Today, HUD announced the availability of $5 million for the Thriving Communities Technical Assistance program. The program is funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that passed last year and the program is focused on providing transportation and community development activities, including affordable housing, to underserved communities.

HUD will use the $5 million to fund technical assistance providers to work with jurisdictions across the country to consider housing needs and boost supply as part of their larger infrastructure plans. Once technical assistance providers are selected, HUD will begin the process for qualifying local governments to come forward and request assistance.

Those interested in seeking grants can apply here and the applications are due by Nov. 22.

The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) released a similar funding opportunity; please see DOT’s press release for more information.

On Oct. 12, HUD and DOT will host a joint webinar for interested applicants to learn more about the Thriving Communities program and specific requirements of each funding opportunity. You may sign up for the webinar here.
