NAHB recently welcomed a group of emerging member leaders, association executive officers (EOs) and staff to Washington, D.C. for NAHB's Spring Leadership Orientation.

The two-day event provided in-depth information on NAHB programs and member benefits, as well as an inside look at NAHB’s Federal advocacy efforts.

“I highly recommend all EO's and board members to attend. It puts all we are trying to do at the local level in perspective," said Carole Stephens, Johnston County BIA executive officer. "Plus, seeing our nation’s capital is pretty awesome, too!”

The group took a break from sessions at the National Housing Center to tour Capitol Hill and meet with the Small Business Administration and Rep. Mark Alford (R-MO) to discuss key issues impacting the home building industry.

“I couldn't have been more satisfied," said Brannon Richart, Interior Alaska Building Association president. "The experience, the networking, the learning and the revitalization of the NAHB mission statement really gives participants a boost of energy for home building that I've never seen equaled -- and I'm now entering my third decade of building homes.”

“The program provided great insights, useful resources, and meaningful connections," said Amber Elsenheimer, Suncoast Builders Association marketing and communications director. "I highly recommend it to anyone looking to enhance their knowledge and network within the industry!"

EOs attended orientation sessions focused on association management and NAHB resources while emerging leaders participated in leadership development sessions tailored for building industry professionals.

Although the days were busy with learning, touring and networking, NAHB staff made sure there was time devoted to fun team-building activities, like building "code-compliant" marshmallow houses.

The 2025 Fall Orientation will be held Oct. 6-7 in Washington, D.C. Registration will open later this summer.
