Gary Campbell, a Lowell, Mass.-based real estate developer and remodeler with more than 30 years of experience in the construction field, today was elected 2025 third vice chairman of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) during the association’s International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas.

Campbell is the chief executive officer of Campbell Communities, a company that owns and manages 2,000 units of rental housing in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. He is responsible for management operations, as well as developing and acquiring new rental communities, including market-rate and Chapter 40B projects.

“We look forward to working with the Trump administration and Congress to reduce burdensome regulations to enable more families to achieve homeownership or have access to suitable rental housing,” said Campbell. “We will also work with policymakers at all levels of government to remove barriers that are raising housing and remodeling costs and preventing builders from increasing the nation’s housing supply.”

Campbell has been active in the NAHB leadership structure at the local, state and national levels throughout his career. Demonstrating outstanding leadership at the national level, Campbell has served as NAHB National Area 1 chairman, and also chaired the NAHB Housing Finance Committee and the NAHB Multifamily Council Board of Trustees. He served on several other NAHB committees and councils as well, including the Electrification Task Force, the 55+ Housing Industry Council, and the Climate Risk and Sustainability Committee. He also served as a BUILD-PAC trustee.

Campbell served his state and local home builders associations (HBAs) with distinction. He is a former president of the Massachusetts Home Builders Association and the Northeast Builders & Remodelers Association of Mass., and he served on several state and local HBA committees.

He previously spent 16 years working television news, with NBC News in New York and London, and as chief of CNN’s Paris bureau.

Campbell currently serves as chair of the board of a Massachusetts regional health system and as co-chair of the Lowell Plan, a non-profit economic development organization. He also serves on the board of directors of the Pioneer Institute, a public policy research organization, as well as the Mass Development Finance Agency Board. Campbell is the former chair of the board of Circle Health and Lowell General Hospital, and past chair of the board of Pike School in Andover.

Campbell holds a bachelor’s degree from Brown University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

NAHB’s newly elected senior officers serve on a multi-year leadership ladder. Campbell will become chairman of NAHB’s Board of Directors in 2028.
