Builder reparing the roof after a disaster

Wisconsin Flooding

See how the Home Building Industry Disaster Relief Fund was able to help rebuild.

Date: 2008

In June 2008, thousands of homes across Wisconsin were destroyed by floods when floodwaters reached record levels and forced residents to evacuate their homes. The South Central Wisconsin Builders Association teamed up with the Rock County United Way to help the victims of these severe floods. The local members put aside their own troubles in order to ensure that their neighbors’ homes were repaired and that the affected families could once again live in safe, sanitary and healthy environments.

Along with the rebuilding, the local association organized a “Contractor Workshop” to inform HBA members of the rebuilding process after a flood, bringing together representatives from local governments, including county health officials, building inspectors, FEMA officials and the insurance industry.
