The vision for the Kelly Plantation started with a 200-year-old cabin and was built using salvaged antique logs. This vision started the two-year process of building a home that perfectly pairs old construction materials with new technique and a new timber frame. Incorporating those centuries-old logs into the front part of the house — a project that took about six weeks and focused on a traditional design. The home’s front section includes a first-floor master bedroom suite, a formal dining room and two upstairs bedrooms connected by a Jack-and-Jill bathroom. From there, extra square footage was added to create a more open feel in the back of the house — the perfect place to incorporate a timber frame. The back of the home has a newer feel, giving the illusion that the house has been added onto over time. A mix of wood was used for the floors throughout the home, creating a unique contrast against the Douglas Fir frame and interior spruce walls. The variety of woods and the use of reclaimed materials makes the house truly unique and one with its natural surroundings.
