The goal of this design was to create a home less than 3,000 square feet with enough room for family gatherings and grandkids. Deleting a second garage bay option gave the grandkids a space of their own in the walkout basement with bunk room and TV room with wet bar. The open loft is a perfect home office space to use a computer or talk on the phone while enjoying the views of the custom laser cut railing and stone fireplace.

The main-floor primary suite provides access to all the amenities on one level. The bumpout turret dining space adds architectural interest while still allowing for a simple rectangle floor plan design. The gold lighting mixed with the cowhide and Western art make provides a Western vibe with glam for the California owner.

“Two years ago, our family gathered at a rental home in Breckenridge, Colo., for a week of skiing and getting quality time together. We had family in from Texas, California and Hawaii with grandkids who had never experienced the mountains in the winter. The fun we had that year was the inspiration for wanting to build a family retreat that we can enjoy year after year.

“The vision was a log cabin home with a large and inviting great room and open kitchen concept that could accommodate all the children and grandchildren. What was delivered was more than we could have ever hoped for. Upon entry, we were greeted by the perfect great room with a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace, large and inviting open kitchen, and decor that is best described as mountain chic. The great room flows out to a large patio with stunning views of the surrounding mountains. It is truly our dream vacation home.”
